Archdiocese Denies Rumours That Cardinal Eijk Plans Resignation

The Archdiocese of Utrecht has rejected as false rumours that Cardinal Willem Eijk, 73, could have asked Pope Leo XIV during an audience on Monday to accept his early resignation as Archbishop.
“These reports are false. He has not offered his resignation,” the archdiocese told the Dutch newspaper Katholiek Nieuwsblad on Wednesday. An archdiocesan spokesman added that there was no basis for such speculation.
The audience attracted attention because Eijk has experienced health problems in recent months and didn't attend the consistories in January and June.
The archdiocese also provided an update on the cardinal’s health. “It is known that Cardinal Eijk struggled with health problems last winter,” the spokesman said. His recovery had taken longer than initially hoped, but was now progressing well.
According to the archdiocese, Eijk is expected to resume his duties fully on September 1.

Niwa Limbu

Good afternoon,
My name is Niwa Limbu, Vatican Correspondent for AdVaticanum. I have created this GloriaTV account specifically to address your recent news commentary.
The claim that AdVaticanum spread a rumour about Cardinal Eijk’s resignation is entirely false. Whenever we mentioned the possibility of resignation or early retirement, we clearly presented it as rumour or speculation, never as established fact. We reported only what was being whispered; we never claimed it to be true.
The commentary that we spread such a rumour is inaccurate. We urge GloriaTV to correct or withdraw this statement promptly to avoid any further escalation, including potential legal action.
Thank you.

Leo XIV Tells Aging Religious Sisters to Become “Experts in Synodality”

Today, Leo XIV sent a prerecorded video message to the 70th-anniversary assembly of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) in Orlando.
LCWR is the largest association of leaders of Catholic women religious in the United States. Its members are generally the superiors of congregations of sisters.
The video was shown to an overwhelmingly elderly gathering, with scarcely a religious habit or young face in sight.
Religious to Become “Experts in Synodality”
Leo XIV said that all Christians are called to be “formed in a synodal Church”. He continued: “In a special way, those in religious life are called to become experts in synodality due to the opportunities afforded by community life to practice it.”
Then, he praised the assembly's planned “synodal method of listening, discussion and discernment,” expressing the hope that through such “fraternal and receptive dialogue” the sisters would be able to “discern what the Holy Spirit is saying” about “the present and future of consecrated …More

Blasphemy in front of the crucified. The demons did the same thing when Jesus was crucified.

'Father James Altman dreamed he was a priest facing pressure from parishioners who threatened to protest and have him removed unless he changed his sermons. When he returned to celebrate Mass, the church was largely empty. The choice was stark: change the message to keep people in the pews or continue preaching the truth, even if it meant losing them all.
The dream led him to the Gospel passage where crowds abandon Jesus after He speaks difficult truths. Faithfulness to God’s truth may come at the cost of popularity and numbers. The question every Catholic must answer is whether they will remain faithful to Christ or follow human opinions, ecclesial figures, or movements that have departed from the truth.'

New Apostolate for the Roman rite in Canada: The Institute of the Good Shepherd (IBP) has established a new apostolate for the traditional Roman Rite in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, with the permission of Archbishop Guy Desrochers. The first Mass was celebrated on July 19. The IBP was founded in 2006 by five former priests of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX/FSSPX). This appears to be its first foundation in Canada.

The Eucharist Speaks the Language of Unity

[wherepeteris] The Eucharist is where Catholics should discover most profoundly what it means to belong to the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.
Every Sunday, Catholics across the world gather around the same altar. They may hear Scripture proclaimed in different languages, sing different hymns, and worship according to different cultural traditions, yet they come to celebrate the same mystery: the Body and Blood of Christ.
This diversity reveals a profound truth about Catholicism: the Church has never been united because everyone spoke the same language. She has been united because she shares the same Lord.
This is why the recent discussion surrounding the Traditional Latin Mass deserves deeper reflection. Asked in a recent interview with Maggie Fergusson of The Tablet whether restricting the celebration of the Tridentine Mass would matter as much to Pope Leo XIV as it did to Pope Francis, Cardinal Arthur Roche, prefect of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline …More

St. Paul’s warning to the divided Christian community in Corinth remains a challenge for the Church today: “Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread” (1 Corinthians 10:17). The Corinthians gathered for the Eucharist, yet divisions and rivalries existed among them. St. Paul reminded them that receiving the Body of Christ while failing to live as one body contradicted the very mystery they celebrated.
The same challenge faces Catholics today. The Church has always contained different cultures, languages, and spiritual traditions. Diversity is not the problem; the danger comes when those differences become reasons for contempt.
We can defend tradition while failing to practice humility. We can argue for reverence while speaking without charity. We can receive the Body of Christ while failing to recognize Christ in our brothers and sisters.
Every Sunday, Catholics throughout the world gather around the same altar. The languages of worship …More
