Brigitte Stegemann was an 83-year-old great-grandmother and a Christian. On July 10, she died through Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) program in Ontario. Diagnosed with terminal Stage IV stomach cancer, Stegemann had wanted to die naturally. But while her granddaughter and longtime legal representative, Brigitte Kranendonk, was away on vacation, medical personnel discussed MAiD with Stegemann.
